Record turn-out at Protasco's Iftar Perdana

Kajang, 12 Oct 2006 : Guests, staff and students from different Protasco Bhd companies including KLIUC lecturers and students from various ethnicity and religious affiliation joined their Muslim counterparts for buka puasa at Protasco's Iftar Perdana outside the Ikram surau here last night.

Estimated between 1,200 - 1,500 of them, it was a record turn-out at a Protasco's buka puasa do. The function began with a donation to 36 orphans from the Darul Fuqaha orphanage near here. KLIUC Board of Governors' Chairman, Tan Sri Dato' Dr Abdul Hamid Othman presented school bags, shoes, stationery and cakes to them.

After breaking the fast, the Muslim guests and staff performed the Maghrib followed by Isyak and Terawih prayers together. Before they performed the Witir prayer, invited guest, YADIM President, Datuk Hj Mohd Nakhaie Hj Ahmad, delivered a tazkirah on Islam's emphasis on thinking, calculation and civilization. The Iftar Perdana concluded with a moreh.

Apart from Tan Sri Abdul Hamid, his wife, Puan Sri Jamilah Said, and Dato' Mohd Nakhaie, other VIPs present included Dato' Dr Zulkifli A Hassan, Secretary-General, Ministry of Higher Education, Dato' Prof Dr Hassan Said, Director-General, Ministry of Higher Education and Dato' Hj Imran Idris, Director-General, Polytechnic and Community College, Ministry of Higher Education.

Protasco Bhd Executive Chairman, Dato' Ir Hasnur Rabiain Ismail, Protasco Bhd Managing Director, Dato' Ir Chong Ket Pen and Datin Hoo Chit Neo plus directors and senior managers from HCM, Roadcare, Kumpulan Ikram, KLIUC and other related Protasco Bhd companies also attended the function. Some of them came all the way from outstation.
